Okay, first and foremost, to those of you that can display pieces neatly on a shelf flanking your TV, or neatly in a china cabinet, kudos to you. I am not that girl! I unfortunately have 4 china cabinets in my dining area and about 40 teapots on top of my kitchen cabinets.
Last month, because I got a negative (crappy) comment on my Facebook page (Blue Willow Treasures) about how bad my cabinets looked, I packed up all of my pink willow in totes and down to the basement they went. It was a sad moment, but I do have a ton of willow pieces. Up to this point, I have just piled the items in (heaviest on the bottom shelf of course an just kept buying.
I suppose I never thought I would get to the point of packing up prized purchases and stowing them away…but I see many willowers posting about how they found this prize packed away in a box! I almost cried with those two totes, but I do which my items were better displayed, so I guess I will be buying totes and working on my displays next weekend.
Now, my next question is: “do you have all of your favorite items in one cabinet?” Sad to say, I do. I simply cannot help but want them all in one cabinet to be seen by everyone. My other cabinets are too high and make seeing the top shelf very difficult. The cats pictured above are in my favorite cabinet.
This video may make you a tad sick and for that, I am sorry. I am by no means a professional!!!!! Yes, I have stuff thrown all over this cabinet but these are my prize possessions. I will let you know how the new displays all turn out. I will do some before and after photos and hope to get some items packed away for safe keeping.
My last question, is: “Do you inventory your finds?” I think I need to do something to tell my children what has more value than other items. I was thinking about just starting with an excel document.
Any thoughts or comments are appreciated.
Much love Christine.
