Happy Thanksgiving Willow Style

This year has been one to bring many of us to our knees. COVID has struck and impacted our lives in one way or another. Today I will be spending Thanksgiving only with my immediate family. I am used to cooking a feast for 10-12 but this year it will be 4. For the first time in as long as I remember, I will not be eating with my mom. It truly makes me sad, but I refuse let it get me down.

I have still set my table in true Willow Pattern fashion because it lifts my spirits. I intend to take time to facetime my daughter and son in law who are expecting their first child and may go visit my mom with full mask in place! Regardless, I think COVID has had a pretty negative impact on our lives, but there has also been some positive come of it too.

First I think it has made me realize how important connection with others is. I have been working remote the last several days due to a horrible cold and while it is nice to not get out of my pjs, it is also a downer because I miss my coworkers. Most of my team I haven’t seen for 8 months. I miss hearing about their children, what they are going through and the sheer intraction.

Covid has also put life in perspective. I am thankful for a career and employer that appreciates the heroes at the hospital I work at. I am also thankful for all of those people who serve and treat patients regardless of whether it is a holiday or not. These people need more praise than I can provide.

I am thankful for those active in recovery who are safe today and have decided to keep up the good fight to remain clean and sober. This is the time of the year, our ministry gets hit the hardest with death and overdoses. It is a tough time of year. If you know of some one struggling, just send a message or text to let them know you are thinking of them. It may be the difference between life and death.

I am thankful for my amazing family that puts up with my insane schedule, my inability to focus and oftentimes listen. It is not intentional. I am thankful they forgive me and continue to stand by me through thick and thin.

I am also thankful for the blessings provided by my heavenly father who never leaves my side. I am truly blessed with an amazing willow collection, a beautiful home and everything I need and then some. I am thankful for each of you who read my blog, even though I am not a writer and never will be!

Today, stay well, eat well and be safe.

Happy Willow Thanksgiving!

I have been collecting Blue Willow since 1996. I am an avid collector who loves to decorate with blue willow. My favorite part is to set my tables with blue willow place settings.

  1. You certainly are a writer, well worth reading! I think you take on far too much responsibility though, not many of us could cope with that……..give yourself a break Christy.
